As a result, understanding the operations that a simple computer can perform has become a critical skill in almost all aspects of life. This IT course explores the fundamental aspects of computers, including the basic functions performed by their hardware and software components.

We first examine the evolution and history of electronics before outlining the applications and uses of computers. The course lays out the general structure of computers, the roles of hardware and software and the technology that allows mass data storage. We discuss operating systems, their various types and the different ways you can maintain your computer.
